§ Put-downs, trash-talking, South Park
Discuss the types of humor from the list above that you find funny. Provide examples of each type. In fact, if you are feeling ambitious see if you can develop a list of your ‘top five funniest whatever that make you laugh. Finally, provide a link to something that you find funny- video, audio, joke, story…).
Gilda Radner doing kid with a stuffy nose and Chevy Chase playing the "Soup-man" on SNL
David Sedaris' book Dress My Family in Corduroy

this one is contagious!
5. Home Movies. Best episode: Coffins and Cradles
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykjdO2Z2KMs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-qlOa9l8UQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3i1FaEqAnkk
4. Anchorman. Best scene: The part where Ron gets a boner talking to Veronica.
3. Mallrats. Best movie.
2. The Simpsons. Best show.
1. The most offensive thing I've seen on TV so far (and I just love it): From Family Guy...Prom Night Dumpster Baby.
daily show
slapstick a recurring skit on SNL when the show was in its prime...I believe this was the first one.

My top five funniest things:
-Parody: such as Saturday Night Live sketches, most often the song spoofs are things I find hilarious, such as this song by the lonely island,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pXfHLUlZf4
Potty Humor and Sexual Humor- these are also things that are included in that last video, and that is something that I can't help but laugh at as long as it is not terribly obscene. These are things we cannot take too seriously, in my opinion. This video is in my opinion better than the last but fits better in this category.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGOohBytKTU
Slap Stick- Growing up this was my favorite kind of humor. There's really nothig better as a teenager that watching the guys on Jackass on a giant teeter-totter in the middle of a bull ring and trying to avoid getting gorged in the butt.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3a9XLPzKby4
Sarcasm- this is a locker room art and definitely a past time for me and my teammates. It takes some good spirited people to with stand this kind of humor but I think if all parties involved are mature and cool about it, this can be once of the best types of humor.

1. Parody: I love to watch shows such as Saturday Night Live and MAD TV. I think it’s hilarious to watch people impersonate other people due to the fact that the person they are impersonating often did something stupid. I once saw a skit on SNL making fun of a pregnancy test commercial. In the real commercial there is woman jogging through a park and her thoughts are something along the lines of “I can’t concentrate. I must be pregnant.” On SNL they had one of their actresses jogging through a park with the same thought. Then they showed her a few months pregnant with the same thought. And again 9 months pregnant and then again while she was giving birth. It might not sound funny but I laughed for days about it! J (I couldn’t find it on YouTube or else I would have posted a link. Sorry!)
2. Irony: I love when people use oxymoron’s in daily conversations. They make me laugh mostly because don’t realize they are using them or to the person saying it sounds totally normal.
3. Dry Humor: The example given is Monty Python and that is one of my all time favorite forms of British comedy. Here are a few links so you too can enjoy the funny Monty Python skits: Argument Clinic; Bicycle Repairman; and my favorite the Lumberjack Song.
4. Black Humor: I only like this in certain circumstances. I had an English teacher in the 7th grade that laugh hysterically every time someone or something died in one of the stories were reading. I think I picked up on this humor from him. In movies I find it hilarious when the obvious person or the stereotypical person dies.
5. Sarcasm: also this is only in certain circumstances. I have a few friends who are naturally sarcastic and they are hilarious to be around. They aren’t afraid to put anyone in their place and it makes me smile to see someone who was being rude or disrespectful get slapped with some sarcastic truth.
I know I already provided links above but something that always makes me laugh no matter what kind of day I am having is a website that people post horrible things that happen to them. FML- F*** My Life
It's hard to choose, there are soo many things I enjoy that make me laugh. Here is my list:
I enjoy slapstick humor- Example: Singin' in the Rain: The Moses Supposes Scene and Make them Laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKBT_CQYh1U
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW02c5UNGl0
Also Mel Brooks Movies Like Spaceballs and Blazing Saddles
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvd3kaupZ60
Also Too many scenes to list from I love Lucy but here is one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wp3m1vg06Q
Also Slapstick- The movie Airplane:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-xHPU6NulM
I mostly enjoy slapstick comedy, but since I am supposed to provide an example for each here is an example from SNL for imitation of people or current events: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xza8tXkEmxA
Absurd Comedy- The Simpsons:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4i8SpNgzA4
Double entendre: Okay just a warning, it was dificult to find what I was looking for to describe this type of humor, without being 100% clean but there is a Johnny Carson Clip that displays Double Entendre.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYtCebp32Kc
Dry Humor: Herman Meunster:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C85kTwFEymo
Self-deprecating: David Letterman: Heart Surgery
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhFkC1Z18c8
Sarcasm: Family Guy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpA5LKVSHXs
This is by far my favorite airplane scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voVFcsahtQ0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGNO6ekXr5Y&feature=related: Liar Liar - Decay of Western Society
This can be found in the movie Liar Liar when he admits that he is the one that made the elevator stink
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a43kowi2ncI&feature=related
In a scene of Liar Liar he is trying to lie to himself and say that the pen is red even though it is blue and he can’t: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvfUCT5kHRw
4. Modern dry humor (the video from Home Alone, Fun with Marv and Harry, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaWYOdHK8aM&feature=related)
video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWcNr_ce5pI&feature=related.
1) Double entendre: I really like these types of jokes because it is so funny to figure out the hidden meaning, and it is even funnier when other people don't get them. The comedian "Tater Tot" does this a lot. I love his stand up. 2) Sarcasm is amazing. My boyfriend and I are extremely sarcastic to each other and others when we get in the mood. Dane Cook uses sarcasm a lot in his stand up, and I absolutely love it. 3) Sexual humor never seems to let me down. I actually watched a stand up comedian named Willie, this last Friday. His whole act was based around sexual jokes with his family, friends, and the audience. He was absolutely hilarious. 4) Black humor is needed every once in awhile. Whether it be in a movie or with your friends. I loved the movie American Beauty because of its use of black humor. 5) Parady and Satire are a must! I love watching The Colbert Report. He is a master at this type of comedy. He is able to poke fun at almost anything that happens in the political world. There is never a bad show when it comes to him.
This is the link for Stephen Colbert's speech at the Correspondent's Dinner. He ROASTS president Bush. It is one of the funniest things I've ever seen, and the best part is that people don't even get he is making fun of Bush and his decisions as a president.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSE_saVX_2A
find all of those forms of humor funny except for put downs of people other than public or authority figures. I don't like hurting other peoples' feelings or seeing them hurt - unless they deserve it. People who seek publicity often seem to deserve that which is thrown at them and making fun of authority figures is a hallowed right of the weak (though they had best be careful).

This strip is pretty tame, but others on the site might offend some people, so be forewarned if you want to look around.
